In the last couple of weeks, some of my other blogging friends have posted some of their favorite quotes. Upon seeing their posts, it reminded me of one of my loves: quotes. I love quotes that make me laugh, make me think, make me realize things about myself that I never would have realized. I love quotes so much so, that Gina got me a huge book of Reader's Digest anecdotes and quotes for Christmas a few years ago. The book has the quotes separated into subject matter, so if I am in the mood for reading quotes that pertain to specific things, I can easily do so. I have even marked my favorite quotes in the book itself, so that I can come back to them later. Now, in saying that I love quotes, I should add that I am not a fan of having to cite quotes when writing papers, only for the fact that there are so many rules as to how you found it and how you present it, and so many other details that it just becomes irritating. (I know why this is necessary, but I still don't like it.) Otherwise, that is my only complaint.
I never would have thought about this, but my friends included lots of quotes from their loved ones. I love these, especially quotes from loved ones who have already passed on, as it is another way of keeping their memory alive in your heart. It also made me realize that I would have a somewhat hard time remembering specific quotes from my loved ones. Perhaps, it has led me to be more conscious of trying to remember things that people say.
As I feel is appropriate, I will include a smattering of my favorite quotes, although I don't have my huge quote book. (Note: Some of these quotes will have obviously not been coined by the person I credit it to, but that is the person who most commonly said it to me.)
